If you have ever watched a TV show about some of the world’s best thrill rides and roller coasters then you have definitely seen some of the rides at Cedar Point featured. Cedar point is branded as the “roller coaster capital of the world,” with 16 coasters of all different types and sizes; it certainly lives up to its name!
Cedar point is a large amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio, and it really has some of the best and most innovative thrill rides anywhere in the world. If you are ever in that part of the country then it is worth your time to stop at the park. I recently was spending some time in Detroit, which is about a two-hour drive from Sandusky. I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to go enjoy the “roller coaster capital of the world,” so I made the drive. I was not disappointed! Here are a few notes from my trip.
Check the Season
Cedar point is open seasonally. If you plan to go, make sure that you know that the park will be open. During the summer cedar point is open daily and the hours are consistent on most days. In early and late season the park may only be open on select days, and the opening hours will vary. Make sure you show up on days that they will be open.
Pay to Park
Cedar point charges for parking. If you show up at the park then the cost to park is $20 per vehicle. You can pay for parking ahead of time on the cedar point website and for $15 and save yourself five bucks. The park really stands alone, so there are no other places to park your car and walk in. If you are going to drive to the park then you will need to pay.
Pre Pay Tickets
There are a lot of options for ticketing at the park. Regular one day passes start at $45 and go up depending on the options that you want to add on. You can buy multi day passes, tickets with food included, tickets to multiple parks and attractions, and even season passes if you plan to go to the park a bunch of times.
Like the parking, you will save a few bucks on your tickets if you go online and buy them. You will also be able to see all of the available ticketing options and packages for your stay.
Book Your Stay
Cedar point also has a water park and a lot of lake attractions right on Lake Erie like fishing, parasailing, boat rentals and more. You can book a stay at one of Cedar Point’s many hotels and make a week out of your experience. Booking can be done conveniently on the park’s website.
To Fast Lane or Not to Fast Lane
Fast lane is a premium upgrade to your park ticket that allows you to enter through a special entrance on several of the park’s most popular rides. Fast lane will significantly reduce your queue time on several rides.
There is the regular fast lane pass, which gets you special access to about twenty different rides inside the park, and the fast lane plus option which is the same as fast lane, and gets you special access to a few more popular rides that are not included with the regular fast lane.
If you opt not to purchase fast lane when you buy your ticket initially, you can always upgrade and buy it inside of the park (that’s what I did)
The cost of fast lane plus will be close to double the price of your ticket. If you only have a limited amount of time to spend at the park then it may be worth the price, but if you will be there for several days then you will probably have time to get on all of the rides that you want to do.
Cedar point has a very comprehensive website that is pretty easy to navigate through. You can do all of your ticket purchasing and bookings right through there. You won’t even have to print out your tickets; they will show up right on your phone. If you buy the fast lane option or a food package then you will need to pick up your corresponding wristbands when you enter the park.
I hope some of this information is helpful. If you want to go check out some of the best roller coasters in the world then you need to make a stop at Cedar Point, you won’t be disappointed with the attractions that they offer. If you have any more questions about the park, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I would love to help you plan the best vacation possible!
